Kevin Krainman was tired of watching only the wealthy live the American dream. The houses that surrounded his San Jose, Calif., condo were going for millions even in a recession. He was working crazy hours in Silicon Valley with only 1,300 square feet of real estate to show for it.
He and his fiancée (now wife), Liz, had family in Austin who talked about purchasing three times the square footage for a fraction of the cost. Their encouragement helped the couple decide to move to the Texas capital and ultimately led to Kevin’s new position as the ACFE’s web strategist.
Now, just 10 months after their move, the Krainmans (who married in October 2009) are settling into their dream home.
“We came here because we want to raise a family, and it’s so much more affordable to do that here,” Kevin said. “Austin has a great atmosphere and a broad economy and job sector. It’s just an all-encompassing place and it has really impressed us. It was an easy decision to move here.”
