John Gill, J.D., CFE, speaks in a relaxed, easygoing manner (thanks to his upbringing in Crossett, Ark.), which belies his sharp legal mind and passion for educating and training fraud fighters. Most people know him as the ACFE's vice president of education, co-author of the "Fraud Examiners Manual," editor-in-chief for the CFE Exam, publisher of Fraud Magazine and co-instructor of the CFE Exam Review class. But if you ask anyone about John, the first thing they say is, "He's so funny!" He likes to illustrate points during meetings with Monty Python clips and to play practical jokes on friends and co-workers. There is a rumor he does a mean Britney Spears impression, and he often will break out in loud songs, most often from the 1980s. After renovation began on several buildings on the ACFE campus, he wore a hard hat and work clothes outfit to an ACFE Halloween party and handed out wills that left all of the signees' assets to him.
