On February 20, the ACFE Board of Regents approved for public comment a draft “CFE Code of Professional Standards Interpretation and Guidance.” The purpose of the guidance document is to clarify the meaning of the code and to assist Certified Fraud Examiners in resolving questions of how the standards might apply in particular situations, according to John Warren, J.D., CFE, vice president and general counsel for the ACFE. The guidance doesn’t create any obligations or duties for CFEs beyond those contained in the standards, he says.
