New Regents join board during its semi-annual meeting

Joseph J. Agins, CFE, and Gerard Zack, CFE, CPA, took their oaths of office as newly elected members of the Board of Regents during the Board's semi-annual meeting on Feb. 18 at ACFE headquarters in Austin, Texas. Alton Sizemore, Jr., CFE, CPA, who was unable to attend the meeting, was sworn in on February 19.

Bruce G. Dubinsky, CFE, CPA was elected chairman and Richard G. Brody, Ph.D., CFE, CPA, was elected vice chairman. Zack was elected secretary; Agins, treasurer; and Sizemore and ACFE President and CEO James D. Ratley, CFE, assistant treasurers.

The Board reviewed and discussed the membership growth of the ACFE which recently surpassed 70,000 members. The ACFE has 154 chapters in 45 countries. New chapters are expected in the coming months in Oman, Southeastern Nigeria, Lima, Sydney and Taiwan.

For the past 25 years, membership growth has been primarily in the U.S., but today 30 percent of new members live outside of the country. International member growth is outpacing domestic growth. Several international live events are scheduled for 2014 including Amsterdam, Singapore, London, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. The ACFE has partnered with a group in the Philippines to act as a call center and recently hired a partnership manager in Malaysia to support development in the Asia Pacific region.
