New Regents join board during its semi-annual meeting

Alexis C. Bell, CFE, PI, and Vidya Rajarao, CFE, CA, took their oaths of office as newly elected members of the Board of Regents during the board’s semi-annual meeting on February 22 at ACFE headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The Regents elected Leah D. Lane, CFE, to be chair and Sidney P. Blum, CFE, CPA/CFF, to be vice chair. They elected Nancy E. Rich, CFE, to be secretary; Bell, treasurer; and Rajarao and ACFE Vice President and Program Director Bruce Dorris, J.D., CFE, CPA, assistant treasurers.

Since the 2016 spring meeting of the Board of Regents, the ACFE added seven new chapters including those in Columbia, Chile, Cyprus and Kuwait. As of publication, the ACFE has 180 chapters in 61 countries.

Board members reviewed pending disciplinary matters awaiting recommendations from the Board of Review. The Board of Regents also reviewed ACFE committee reports and appointed new committee members to replace outgoing members. In addition, the board voted to dissolve the Chapter Awards committee and replace it with the newly formed Chapter Leaders Committee. The Chapter Leaders Committee will absorb the duties of the former Chapter Awards Committee and will provide guidance and direction on how the ACFE can better serve chapter leaders around the world.

The Board also established a working group of CFEs to advise the Board on many possible modifications or revisions to the ACFE rules of conduct for its members. The Board also reviewed some possible future enhancements to the CFE Examination based on current trends and best practices in the test-security industry.

The next meeting of the Board of Regents will be held during the 28th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference on June 18 in Nashville.
