When Identity Thieves Strike, Know How to Strike Back

In my last column, I wrote about how I became a victim of identity theft. If you or someone you know might be a victim, it's imperative to do as I did and follow the general steps discussed here to recover identities and protect resources. 

 
When you follow these steps, the regulatory authorities will be able to classify and report the fraud, and you'll help the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and local law enforcement authorities track down the thieves. 

 
As fraud examiners, we should advise our clients, family, friends, and the community before I.D. thieves strike.
